The Elite Youth of Anam Foundation (EYAF) has set up an advocacy committee to oversee issues concerning flooding that is currently ravaging communities in Anambra West Local Government Area of Anambra State.

According to EYAF, setting up the committee known as EYAF -Flood Management Advocacy Committee (FMAC), became necessary following the deep concerns about the social, economic, health, security and sundry challenges that usually face the people at this time and afterwards.

The group noted that it was important not to stay aloof but take steps in right direction. “Therefore, the Executive has decided to set up 2023 Flood Management Advocacy Committee that will be saddled with the responsibility of execution of our plans on sensitization on the flood to reduce the impact on our people”.

The members of the committee for the main time are: Pst. FRANK Agulu, as the chairman; Chuks Nnachor as the secretary; Mrs. Asikaralu Okafor as the technical adviser and Mr. Romanus Okoye as the media coordinator.

Others are Dr. Obiora Emeka Peter, Mr. Emma Okeke, Mrs. Rose Onyeka, Mr. Nonso Edoziuno, Mr. Ejike Anekwe as members.

The committee at take-off, will meet the Transition Committee (TC) Chairman, Anambra West LGA, Hon. Felix Ikechi to get specific details about what the government is actually doing; engage with the Presidents General of various communities in the affected areas as well as the Federal and state’s emergency management agencies (NEMA and SEMA).

EYAF executive noted that because of the logistics that would be involved and for the committee to be effective, it is very neccessary that individuals, groups and organisations support with financial donations.

Meanwhile, donations have started coming in as at the time of writing this report. “All supports should be made through the group account details below: Elite Youths of Anam Foundation; 6060436842; Fidelity Bank” the statement noted.
