Governor Charles Soludo, on Friday, flagged off the construction of the Nri-Agbanabo-Nimo road, a 3.2-kilometer infrastructure project that has been stalled for three decades.

The road would connect Nri in Anaocha Local Government Area to Nimo in Njikoka Local Government Area, with the governor stating that the project would “open up new opportunities” for residents in both communities.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Governor Soludo described the commencement as evidence of his administration’s focus on infrastructure development across Anambra State.

“This milestone marks the beginning of more development projects in Nri. A new era of progress has begun for our community,” the governor said.

Following the ceremony, the Nri community organized what Governor Soludo described as a “massive endorsement rally” where residents pledged support for his reelection bid scheduled for November 8.

The event also witnessed “thousands of decampees” joining the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), though specific numbers were not provided.

Soludo’s administration has prioritized road infrastructure as part of its development agenda since taking office. The Nri-Agbanabo-Nimo road represents one of several pending projects the current administration has committed to completing.

The 30-year delay of the project highlights the long-standing infrastructure challenges facing communities in the state, with successive administrations failing to deliver on road construction until now.

However, no timeline was provided for the completion of the 3.2-kilometer road project, and the cost details were also not disclosed during the flag-off ceremony.

The governor concluded his remarks by expressing optimism about continued progress across the state, stating, “We will continue to work tirelessly to serve our great state.”
