Anambra State governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo administration is taking a multi-faceted approach to addressing insecurity in Anambra State, and it’s clear that they’re committed to making the state a safe and secure place for all citizens.
The governor declared a state of emergency on insecurity in Anambra State, vowing to tackle the menace head-on. To achieve this, he’s set to launch a joint security operation codenamed “Operation Udo Ga Achi,” which translates to “Let Peace Reign.”
He identified armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism, and touting as the primary causes of insecurity in the state.
To address these issues, Soludo has announced plans to revoke the land of any community that allows criminals to use their land. Additionally, members of such communities who provide support to these criminals will be treated as collaborators. The governor has also warned that any house found to have harbored kidnappers would be seized by the government.
As Governor Soludo emphasized, “Anambra is not a place for criminals, and we will do everything to make the state uninhabitable for them.” He further stated, “We will revoke the land of any community that allows criminals to use their land.” The launch of “Operation Udo Ga Achi” is expected to bring a new wave of security to the state, with a focus on intelligence gathering, surveillance, and strategic operations.
But that’s not all; Governor Soludo’s administration is also taking a holistic approach to tackle insecurity in Anambra State. In addition to declaring a state of emergency and launching “Operation Udo Ga Achi,” the governor is also empowering youths through various initiatives. One such initiative is the “One Youth Two Skills” program, which aims to provide young people with alternative means of livelihood, thereby reducing their likelihood of engaging in criminal activities. This apprenticeship program is designed to train and empower 400 youths with at least two skills, making them self-reliant and productive.
Furthermore, Governor Soludo’s administration is also investing in infrastructure development, such as the dualization of major roads, including the Nwagu Agulu-Nnobi-Nnewi and Nnewi-Ozubulu-Okija roads. While some may argue that road construction is not directly related to insecurity, it can actually help to improve economic activities, reduce poverty, and create jobs, all of which can contribute to a safer and more secure environment.
